Alleged Surgical Errors Result in Florida Medical Malpractice

Florida parents have the right to reasonably assume that their children’s safety will be protected when undergoing care at a dentist’s office. A case involves more than 60 former patients who have alleged that the surgical errors of one dentist were intentional. The accusations were brought to light when the mother of a 2-year-old felt that something was not right with regard to the procedures her son had undergone at the dentist’s office.

According to reports, the toddler had suffered a fall from a bicycle that resulted in two teeth being cracked. His mother says that her young son came out of the dentist’s office missing four teeth. She stated that no one had consulted with her before performing the dental surgery.

After another visit to the same dentist, the woman is said to have taken her child to a pediatrician when she found that his neck was bruised and his lower gum-line was stuffed with gauze even though he had come to the dentist for follow-up care on his upper, not lower, teeth. The pediatrician reportedly claimed that there was an ear-to-ear incision in the child’s lower gum-line.

The incident has led to a medical malpractice case being filed against the dentist, with more than 60 former patients claiming that the doctor has tortured children. They claim that he performed unnecessary surgeries without anesthetic and reportedly dressed in frightening costumes, threaten to kill the parents if the children were to reveal what had happened.

The dentist has apparently relinquished his license to practice dentistry in the state of Florida. Any dental or medical patient who has suffered personal injury due to surgical errors or while under the general care of medical staff may be able to file a legal claim against the doctor and/or staff member deemed at-fault. Parents or a legal guardian may represent a patient of minor age when seeking compensation for damages sustained at the hands of a licensed medical professional.
