As a highly successful civil trial lawyer, Philip Freidin started practicing law in Miami in 1969. He focused his legal practice on personal injury law and has litigated over 200 personal injury and wrongful death claims, including those involving medical malpractice, defective products, and catastrophic injuries. He fights hard to protect the rights and interests of his clients and has successfully obtained million-dollar verdicts and settlements on their behalf.

In 1989, Philip achieved the highest level of recognition by The Florida Bar when he earned the Florida Bar Board Certification. This acknowledged both his competency and experience as a civil trial attorney. Some of his additional accomplishments include:

  • Designation as a Board Certified Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocates from 1995-2008
  • Being profiled in The Best Lawyers in America
  • Inclusion in the Martindale-Hubbell's Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers
  • Recognition as one of Florida’s top personal injury attorneys in the Florida Super Lawyers Magazine, Florida Trend's Legal Elite, and the South Florida Legal Guide

In West v. Caterpillar, one of Philip Freidin’s landmark cases, his work helped establish Florida’s doctrine of Strict Product Liability. This doctrine allows consumers to hold manufacturers and sellers liable for defective products without having to prove negligence. Freidin is proud of his work on this case, which has permanently changed Florida Law and has become a major case study in Florida law schools.

Another one of Freidin’s landmark cases includes Goode v. Walt Disney World, a case that received national coverage. This claim resulted in the highest jury award ever entered against any Disney Park to that date, and also solidified the responsibility that amusement parks have to their patrons to provide a safe environment.

Because he is recognized as an expert in the law, Attorney Freidin has had many opportunities to lecture on personal injury trail tactics and strategy before hundreds of professional bar and trial organizations. In addition to his legal practice, Freidin is also extremely active in many legal and community organizations, including his appointment to the Florida Supreme Court Task Force on Complex Litigation by the Chief Justice.
